The Value of Training, J.B.

Upon graduation from college in May of 1997, I moved to Southern California to attend the Full-Time Training in Anaheim (FTTA). I went to the Training with a certain amount of apprehension and concern for my future, yet deep within, I had the peace that in coming to the Training I was committing myself to the loving care of God to let Him work within and upon me. Although at that time I did not have the faith to fully abandon my future to Him, I had a definite hope that my life would be precious to God and that He could gain me and use me as He willed.

One of the main aspects of the training that has greatly helped me is the intense study of the truth revealed in the Bible. All of the classes and assignments have given me a deeper view of the Christian life and of God's eternal purpose. The truth I have received in the Full-Time Training has become a solid foundation for the rest of my life to direct, guide, constrain, and keep me on the narrow way that leads to life (Matthew 7:14).

The training has also helped me to develop a personal relationship with the Lord. By having scheduled times every day to pray, I have been helped to open to the Lord and fellowship with Him in a more consistent way. I am also learning to live by faith rather than my emotions, not expecting a kind of “good feeling” when I pray, but rather believing in God's word.

The two years I have spent in the Full-Time Training in Anaheim have been the best two years of my life so far. I have no regrets in coming here. I will be eternally grateful to the Lord for giving me this opportunity, and I hope that He will grant me to continue in the things I have learned and been assured of (2 Timothy 3:14).
